Wednesday, June 16th, 2010 - Hot Tranny Mess: Tricks 'n Treats With a Tranny or Two

Well hello my friends and neighbors! Sorry I didn't get this out sooner, but Joseph and I have been rather enamored with two future additions to our family. Since our last movie night we have found two Sphynx kittens that will be all ours the middle of next month. We decided to get a boy and a girl that happen to be brother and sister. Our boy will be named Scrote and our little lady will be named Ova. We can't wait for you to meet them!

Anyhow. both in honor of Pride and hysterical humor, this month's movie night theme will be exploring the shameless cinematic exploitation of the oft negelected tail end of LGBT--the trannsexual. And what better way is there to explore taboo than watching shameless exploitative cinematic texts? Watching them with me!

Please join Joseph and I on Wednesday, June 16th for a Double Feature Event, Hot Tranny Mess: Tricks 'n Treats With a Tranny or Two. The featured films include tranny classic Myra Breckinridge (1970) starring the breathtakingly beautiful Raquel Welch as the titular tranny, a decrepit Mae West, Farrah Fawcett, John Huston, and film critic Rex Reed as the preoperative Myra. Based on the hilarious novel by Gore Vidal, the film was considered an enormous failure, but I'm sure you'll discover upon watching it that the film was decades ahead of its time.

Our second feature will be Richard Day's 2003 hilarious drag classic comedy, Girls Will Be Girls. While not essentially about trannsexuals, or transsexualism, the film is about three actresses all navigating the sordid world of Hollywood....and they're all played by men. (Key word: Passing).

Streamlining with our theme, we will be serving Tranny Tetrazzini. Did you know that Tetrazzini is an American dish, usually involving a non-red meat? Also, it was named after an Opera star, Luisa Tetrazzini, circa 1908-1910. There's no universal standard for the dish, so ingredients are missing or, ahem, substitued at will, or shall we say, as needed? Wink, wink.

Additionally, we will have Tickey-Tack Muffins and two very special alcoholic beverages:

The Mae West -- Please note, this is brandy mixed with egg yolk. Mae's quote "One more drink, and I'll be under the host."

The Burning Orphange --- Basically a screwdriver with cherries and grapes. You'll figure out what this drink is an homage to during the second film.

And, during intermission, we will be playing a Garanimals inspired game, Tranimals. Each member will pick a Tranimal tag out of a bowl that deisgnates whether you belong to the Tops or the Bottoms. Each team will answer several questions pertaining to Tranny trivia and the winning team will receive a small, humble, yet fabulous prize.

Please RSVP for showtimes. I hope to see you all there, you delightful creatures.
